Reason # 16: Halt Mountaintop Removal

To protect the environmentally destructive practice of mountaintop removal coal mining, the Bush administration decided to amend the Clean Water Act to allow companies to dump mine waste into river valleys, wetlands, and stream channels. More than 1,000 miles of Appalachian rivers have been buried or damaged by the practice.
