Reason # 56: Preserve Wilderness

This month marks the 40th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, which formally recognizes wilderness "as an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain." Since the signing of the act in 1964, 106 million untrammeled acres have been set aside "for the permanent good of the whole people."
