Reason # 82: No Exemptions for the Pentagon

Four years ago, President Bush pledged to make the military "comply with environmental laws by which all of us must live." As USA Today reports, now "the White House is the Pentagon's chief ally in pushing for relief from such laws." The move has far-reaching consequences: Roughly one in 10 Americans lives within 10 miles of a military site listed for priority cleanup under the Superfund program.
