Reason # 83: Protect Whistleblowers

The watchdog group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) has reported a significant uptick in official whistleblower cases, from 380 in 2001 to 535 in 2003. The Christian Science Monitor, meanwhile, reports that the Bush administration is actively opposing a bipartisan effort in Congress to strengthen the Whistleblower Protection Act.
