Sustainable Metro DC Campaign

The Sierra Club envisions a Metropolitan Washington region where our transportation systems and community design are part of the solution to global warming, not part of the problem. Our 19,000 members within the region advocate shifting to a more balanced transportation system – connecting vibrant, compact, mixed used neighborhoods – that respect pedestrians and bicycle users and prioritize investment in transit.

The Sustainable Metro DC Campaign will better enable the achievement of the Sierra Club's vision by leveraging the various assets of the local groups and chapters. This regional endeavor serves to complement the efforts being made within the local entities by focusing as a region on advancing the importance of Smart Growth and Transportation.
