*The New Orleans hearing is the second of four hearings the Interior Department is holding to solicit public input on the future of offshore drilling and energy development.
At the first hearing in Atlantic City on Monday, April 6, Secretary Salazar emphasized the importance of clean energy, pointing out that wind power off the Atlantic coast could replace 3,000 coal plants. The Interior Department also recently released an offshore energy report that underscores the importance of clean energy.
Wednesday's hearing will be followed by events in Anchorage and San Francisco. For more information on the hearings, visit: http://www.doi.gov/ocs/
