Sierra Club Board of Directors Elects New President and Officers
San Francisco, CA -- Sierra Club's national board of directors has elected new officers for the 118-year-old environmental organization. Former Vice President for Conservation Robin Mann was named president of the Sierra Club's board of directors. Mann is a long-time environmentalist who helped oversee development of the Climate Recovery Partnership.
"I look forward to continued work with the Sierra Club's outstanding volunteers, staff members and supporters," said Mann. "This powerful organization's commitment to volunteer leadership makes me proud to take on this important role at this critical time in our environmental history."
The all-volunteer board of directors serves the organization's 1.3 million members and supporters by deciding policy, conducting governance and keeping the Sierra Club effective in pursuing its mission to explore, enjoy and protect the planet.
Mann will work closely with volunteer leaders, recently selected Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune and other staff members to expand the organization's influence and to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment.
The other newly announced officers are David Scott of Ohio (vice president), Lane Boldman of Kentucky (secretary), and Joni Bosh of Arizona (treasurer). Outgoing president Allison Chin will assume the role of fifth officer.
Three new board members recently won election for the first time. Donna Buell of Iowa becomes that state's first representative on the board. Jared Duval of Connecticut also join the board for the first time. Duval is the former director of the Sierra Student Coalition, the youth-led branch of the Sierra Club. Jim Dougherty of Washington, D.C. returns to the board of directors after a two year absence. Robert Cox of North Carolina and Allison Chin of Virginia were both reelected to the board of directors.
