Coalition of Leading Environmental Groups to Announce
Top Electoral 2008 Targets
Joint Teleconference on Thursday, April 24 -- 12:30pm
WASHINGTON, DC: In 2006, a coalition of the nation’s leading environmental organizations worked together to defeat Representative Richard Pombo, the anti-environmental Chair of the House Resources Committee. Their unprecedented cooperation and investment of more than $1.7 million led to the first defeat of a sitting committee chair in a decade.
In 2008, those same organizations have joined together with new partners to elect a veto-proof 60 vote pro-environment majority in the United States Senate.
In honor of Earth Week, leaders from five national environmental organizations will identify the three key races of 2008 and outline strategies for victory on a national teleconference.
