Collaboration is one of the hallmarks of the environmental community. As the largest volunteer environmental organization, the Sierra Club has assumed a leadership role in supporting the efforts of organizations within this community. This represents a partial listing of such organizations in the Hudson Valley. It may not be fully comprehensive, but we hope this list provides our members with helpful access and information.

Scenic Hudson
Scenic Hudson has long been considered a leader in safeguarding the Hudson Valley’s irreplaceable landscapes, and protecting our land, air and water from pollution and other threats.

Riverkeeper
Riverkeeper, one of the oldest local environmental organizations, continues its fight by seeking out polluters and teaming with citizen scientists and activists to reclaim the Hudson River. They also work to ensure that over nine million New Yorkers have clean, safe drinking water.

Coalition Against Pilgrim Pipeline (CAPP)
Local organization focused on stopping the Pilgrim Pipeline. Two parallel pipelines, 170 miles each, between Albany, NY and Linden, NJ; plus over 12 miles of single-pipe lateral lines. Bakken shale oil would be sent south; refined products (including kerosene) would be sent north.

New Paltz Climate Action Coalition
Local organization focused on climate change issues.

Idealist.org
Too many good ideas for making the world a better place go unheard or unrealized. Idealist is all about connecting idealists - people who want to do good - with opportunities for action and collaboration.

Citizen Action of New York
Citizen Action of New York is a grassroots membership organization taking on big issues that are at the center of transforming society.

Hudson Valley Concerned Citizens
Hudson Valley Concerned Citizens is a grassroots group of Hudson Valley and New York City residents opposed to any and all NEW High-Voltage Transmission Towers and against implementation of the new $340 Million Rate Hike

Center For Biological Diversity
