This award is given to a Sierra Club entity (not to an individual) to recognize volunteer work in either membership development or fundraising, particularly for conservation projects. Any volunteer entity is eligible: chapter, group, section, regional conservation committee or other task force or committee. Up to $3,000 a year may be awarded to recipients.
The Wilcher Award was established to honor Denny Wilcher and his wife, Ida. For more than two decades Denny provided outstanding leadership in developing the Club's fundraising programs.
Criteria for the award include success in recruitment and retention of members; efficiency in fundraising; the use of techniques that can be broadly applied to other Club activities; and original incentives.
Projects/events being nominated for the Wilcher Award must have occurred in the year prior to that in which the nomination is submitted. Please be sure to submit a set of supporting materials in addition to this nomination form.
