Sources for Non-rBGH Cheese
The following U.S. dairy farms and manufacturers do NOT use genetically engineered bovine growth hormone (rBGH) in their cheese products. Many also sell milk, butter, and other dairy products. This list includes rBGH free cheese from cows only. Sheep and goats are never injected with rBGH.
(Some large co-ops or dairies are in many states but are listed only once.)

While compiling this list, we heard comments from these farmers and producers, such as "rBGH is bad for the cows, " "the cows have to be fed more and that wastes environmental resources," and "consumers are wary of cows being treated with hormones." This steroid hormone is bad for cows. Because it's used in large confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs), it's also bad for the environment. Human health issues have been raised when this issue was reviewed abroad.
