Tour the Borderlands with Google Earth
Launch Google Earth Borderlands Tour
The Sierra Club has utilized Google Earth to create a virtual tour of the borderlands. Learn more about protected lands and wildlife species along the border and how they are being negatively impacted by border policy.
Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean. You can explore rich geographical content, save your toured places, and share with others.
In order to open Google Earth you must already have the program installed on your computer. The download is free and installs in just a few minutes (depending on your internet speed). Click on this link to download now.
After launching the interactive Borderlands Tour below, you can start a tour by clicking on the "Tour the Border" icon in the legend on the left side of the screen. This tour will fly by the various points of interest identified by green, orange, or blue flags. Click on these flags to learn more about our endangered borderlands. Protected lands along the border have also been identified. If you have photos or a story to contribute, please contact the Borderlands Team.
