Business Leaders for Coastal Protection: Everette Phillips

Everette PhillipsEverette Phillips has always lived and worked on one coast or the other. Growing up on Long Island's Great South Bay and Jones Beach, it seemed a natural fit for him to make his way to our coast, which he has called home since the early 80's.

Everette now owns China Manufacturing Network in Irvine and from there he has watched our coastal communities get more built up making public beach access increasingly difficult.

He always thought setting up a business on our coast would make it easy to attract people to come in for training. "Now, it is troubling to have visitors fly in from Canada or Chicago or New York who want to experience our wonderful California lifestyle," Everette said. "You show them our beaches with posted biohazard signs and they can never feel comfortable relaxing and going in the water."

Everette refuses to sit quietly and watch his coast deteriorate. He is a prominent member of Sierra Club's Banning Ranch Project, Republicans for Environmental Protection, the Orange County River Park and the Orange County League of Conservation Voters, all while he runs his successful business. Everette is dedicated to helping these groups preserve our limited coastal open-space and protect our coastal water quality; and for that reason we name Everette our new Business Leader for Coastal Protection.
