The governor can influence California’s environmental policy by signing or vetoing bills, by directing action by agencies, through the types of people he appoints to important roles, and through executive action. Sierra Club California staff and volunteers monitor the governor’s actions and use various strategies to influence those actions. These include calling on our members around the state through our alert system to press the governor for good action or to prevent bad action.
