Conservation Training Internship:
San Francisco, CA National Headquarters

Are you wondering if a career as a trainer, event or meeting planner is for you? This internship program will offer you a chance to learn about running a training event for a non-profit organization from A to Z. Interns will be involved in planning an event, site logistics, promoting an event, and managing the details of bringing large groups of people together in comfort and friendship to enhance learning.

The Sierra Club Training Academy program is charged with development and delivery of training programs for Sierra Club volunteers and staff that teach them the skills, knowledge and attitude they need to work to protect the environment. Sierra Club Training Academy programs are scheduled around the country in 4-8 locations a year. The two-day long program integrates workshop sessions on basic organizing fundamentals such as strategic planning, organizational development, running effective media campaigns and raising and using dollars wisely with hands-on small group sessions where participants practice what they have learned.

Interns for the Sierra Club Training Academy program would primarily be involved in the logistics of planning and delivering these training events as well as given the opportunity to attend a training to get first-hand experience. This position requires skill in using Word and Excel. Website skills (we use Frontpage) are helpful as well. Attention to detail and writing skills are also very important.

Internships are available during the Summer, Fall and Spring terms. Deadlines are as follows:

Fall Application Period: August 15 - September 30
Spring Application Period: November 15-January 10
Summer Application Period: April 1 to May 15

Minimum 20 hours scheduled at your discretion. Small tuition stipend may be available. Two internship positions available at this time. We are willing to provide any documentation necessary to help students get credit in lieu of or in addition to stipend.
