Are you wondering if a career as a journalist, media organizer, or progressive
communications expert is for you? This internship program will offer you
a chance to learn about crafting strategic communications, pitching reporters,
and organizing media outreach.
The Sierra Club's national media team is seeking a motivated and personable
intern. This is a great opportunity to learn more about communications in
the progressive non-proft world, while making an impact on critical environmental
issues. Responsibilities will include researching and pitching stories to
the media, editing press materials, and other individual projects. The ideal
candidate would be a self-motivated, energetic, strategic thinker with very
strong writing abilities, good phone skills, and a passion for environmental
and social justice. Willingness to take risks and manage own projects is
a plus. Responsibilities will be tailored to personal skills and areas of
interest.
Other qualifications: Current college student or recent college graduate.
If you are foreign student, we cannot review your application unless you
are part of a program that arranges your paperwork for you--we cannot arrange
an H1B visa.
Internships are available during the Summer, Fall and Spring terms. Deadlines
are as follows:
Fall Application Period: August 15 - September 30
Spring Application Period: November 1-January 10
Summer Application Period: April 01 to May 01
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Minimum 10 hours scheduled at your discretion. Class credit may be available.
Two internship positions available at this time. We are willing to provide
any documentation necessary to help students get credit in lieu of or in
addition to stipend.
