Although real progress has been made since the Clean Water Act was enacted in 1977, excess nutrients, sewage and other pollution still threaten our drinking water sources. We have a long way to go to clean up our waters, but this tool-kit can help us get there. Click on the links below to access real tools that you can use to protect your drinking water sources and improve water quality in your area.
Water Activist Toolkit Part I: Educational Materials
Introduction The goal of the water activist toolkit is to provide individuals with real tools they can use
to improve water quality in the place they live. Whether it is sources of information to
assess water quality or actual actions taken in other states you can replicate in your
community, there is something for everyone in this toolkit.
Although real progress has been made since the Clean Water Act (CWA) was enacted in
1977, we still have a long way to go to cleaning up and protecting our nation's waters.
Our waters are still impaired by excess nutrients, sewage and other forms of pollution.
And our sources of drinking water need to be protected to ensure that all of our nation’s
communities have access to clean, safe and healthy water.
The materials in this toolkit should be helpful in tackling some of these problems that still
plague our nation's waters. Over time, we will update the materials in this toolkit.
Please feel free to send any suggestions and comments for improvement to
clean.water@sierraclub.org.
