ENERGY TRANSITION COMMITTEE

The Energy Transition Committee (ETC) was formed to serve residents throughout the state who care about clean energy issues. The committee will focus on projects that not only halt Illinois’ dependence on dirty sources of energy but promote clean solutions for Illinois’ energy demands.

Illinois is in prime position to stop its dependence on dirty fossil fuels as energy sources. Throughout the state there are campaigns to spread awareness and plug dedicated volunteers into the work being done nationally as well as within the state. In Chicago there has been a phenomenal push to clean-up or retire the Fisk and Crawford powerplants, two of the oldest plants in the nation. From Northern Illinois to Southern Illinois we are building support to stop the passing of the Taylorville Energy Center (Tenaska) bill and we are revamping our Cool Cities program to now have Green Power Communities throughout the state. Also, Community Choice Aggregation is taking IL by storm as over 240 towns can now choose energy packages that are a better value for their residents, including a green option.

The work happening in Illinois is amazing and we need and look forward to having more dedicated people join us in powering forward with renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.
