West Virginia Beyond Coal

he goal of our campaign is to have the Obama Administration to reverse the "fill rule" so as to make MTR more difficult. Ultimately, we need passage of the Clean Water Protection Act and the Appalachian Restoration Act to stop this destructive mining practice. We are building a base across the nation to influence the Administration to stop MTR.

We work closely with local grassroots groups across the region to suppor the empowerment of local residents in thier efforts to have safe and healthy communities.

See one of the many videos of the recent march to Blair Mountain.

From June 6th, to June 11th people came together to re-inact the orginial 1921 march to Blair Mountain to call for the end of Mountain Top Removal mining, economic sustainablity for Appalachia, to support the rights of working men and women across the Country and to protect Blair Mountain. For the many videos, blog entries and pictures of this historic event, go to http://marchonblairmountain.org/

More and more evidence is comiing in that Mountain Top Removal has serious health impacts in surrounding communites. See the link below for results of the study. To learn more information about how you can help spread the word about the health impacts of MTR contact bill.price@sierraclub.org
