Forest Certification Committee
How You Can Help

There are a number of ways to support credible forest certification and help with the work of the Forest Certification Committee. One of the most important is through your own consumption choices. If you are involved in construction or home improvement, please use FSC-certified wood products. Home Depot is one of the largest retailers of FSC products-be sure to look for the FSC label, but be warned that employees at Home Depot or any retail store may not know what FSC products they carry or even what FSC is.

When shopping for any wood products it can be helpful and educational for retailers if you ask for products containing FSC certified wood. For example, some retail stores may carry both FSC and SFI products - which presents a good opportunity for Club activists. Since FSC is the far better choice you may be able to provide important feedback to the retailers about why FSC is preferable.

One of the best ways to search for larger quantities of FSC products is to submit a product request on the FSC U.S. website:
http://www.fscus.org/faqs/fsc_product_inquiry.php

Here you fill out a form and your request is sent out to all companies that offer FSC products in the United States. Companies that can service your request will contact you directly.

There are a number of other ways that you can get involved and support the work of the Forest Certification Committee For more information, please contact Forest Certification Committee chair at cpufalt@sbcglobal.net.
