2005 WV Conference on the Environment
A Renewable Future - Exploring Energy Sources for West Virginia --
September 14 - 15, at the Days Inn in Flatwoods
The conference will provide a forum for people experienced in providing renewable
resources to describe and debate issues relevant to West Virginia.
Early registration cost is $75 (deadline for early registration is September
7, 2005), regular registration is $100. Financial assistance is available to
those for whom the fee is a financial burden. For scholarship or other information,

Forest Service Open House
Saturday Sept 17th 10am-2pm
Elkins WV
Graceland Conference Center
Davis and Elkins College
This is the first of 5 open houses put on by
the Forest Service. Join us in a great turn out. We will try to have
a hospitality
suite or information table at each of these events. There will
not be a open house in Morgantown, this is as close as it gets.
Please come on down for a fine September weekend and help the Mon
to get more wilderness.

Join Teddy Roosevelt and local Mayor Baber in welcoming
the Forest Service to Richwood. This is the second Open house and the
most
welcoming. Please come and see the forest plan first hand, provide
comments and enjoy fellowship in this friendly town.

Teddy Roosevelt’s road show moves to Pocahontas county tonight.
The third open house is in the heart of Pocahontas county. Come
on out and show your support for wilderness.

Mon Walking Weekend -- Help
to build an environmental community in Charleston and on the Mon
Saturday October 8th
Community Walk in Charleston
The best way to reach our friends and neighbors is to talk to them one on one
and face to face. This is the guiding principle of the Sierra Club’s Building
Environmental Community (BEC) program. On this lovely fall day we will go door
to door in Charleston to talk about our National Forest and our neighborhood.

Trailhead Blitz
Take advantage of a lovely fall day to hang out in the Mon and
talk about preserving these wild places to the folk who are visiting.
This is an amazingly effective way to acquire comments and have
fun doing it.
We will meet at the Seneca Rocks Visitor Center at 11 AM
Meet in the parking lot. We’ll provide box lunches and drinks.
Teams will head out to various hot spots in the Forest to talk
to hikers and hand out our flyer. To sign up for this event contact
