night to discuss the problem of mercury in our local lakes. Participants
had many wonderful thoughts and ideas to contribute and each took

have better environmental policy. Look for this group in White Bear

Minneapolis Communities at Risk Release
Event, Tuesday, July 13th
More than 15 people came out to the first release event for Minnesota
Communities at Risk! Sue Aiken, a registered school nurse
who is featured in the report, spoke about the problem of asthma
among school kids in Minneapolis and the links to air pollution,
and Ginny Yingling, Sierra Club activist, discussed the Bush Administrations
environmental policies. Then we all hit the pavement,
knocking on doors in the Seward neighborhood to deliver copies of
the report, and invite local residents to volunteer. More than 450
copies were distributed. Then we had ice cream sundaes and great
conversation. Thanks to all who came out!

baseball game on July 16th! The group, sporting shirts that read
Sierra Club Batting 1000 for the Environment, While
the Bush Administration Strikes Out, had a fun outing to celebrate
four great months of Building Environmental Communities in Minnesota
and the release of Minnesota Communities at Risk, a
report that details the Bush Administrations environmental
policies and their effect on people here in Minnesota. The ball
game was the culmination of a week of Communities at Risk Release
Events, including three Community Walks at which more than 1,500
reports were distributed to community members! Thanks to our volunteers
