April 19--Celebrate Earth Day

We'll be at Kentucky Wesleyan College, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Speakers will be Dr. Matthew Sleeth, author of "Serve God, Save the Planet," and his daughter Emma Sleeth, sophomore at Asbury College and author of a new book, "It's Easy Being Green." There will be music, tables with information, free CFLs bulbs and other freebies, constant showing of energy and water films, children's activities, and more. Co-sponsored by Sierra Club, Kentucky Wesleyan College, Environmental Stewardship Taskforce of First Christian Church, Water Sentinels and Watershed Watch.

April 20, Earth Day service
Aat First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Message by Dr. Michele Morek, Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph at Maple Mount. She is on science advisory committee for Western KY. Water Sentinels and Watershed Watch.

April 22--An Evening with John Muir
At Kentucky Wesleyan College, Rogers Hall. Dick Shore as Sierra Club founder John Muir, music by Debbie Tuggle. Free information, fridge magnets, birthday cake for John Muir(his birthday is April 21). Free. All are invited.


April 26--Free training to be a water tester for Watershed Watch
At Brescia University in Owensboro, 9 to 1. Contact Lee Dew, 270-685-2034.

May 19, Reclaim the River Day
At Pennyrile State Park, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lake side hike, picnic lunch and speaker, macroinvertebrate training, boat float. Free. Contact Aloma Dew, 270-685-2034 or email aloma.dew@sierraclub.org

Livermore Riverside Park, 10:30--4:00 Speaker, children's activities, canoe float, picnic lunch, speaker, music, streamside litter pickup, riverside hike led by Boy Scouts. Free.


September 6, 2008 -- Healthy Food, Local Farms Conference “ The Politics of Food”

The 9th Annual "Healthy Food, Local Farms Conference" will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on September 6, 2008 at the Uni University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. Speakers include Wendell Berry, Christopher Cook and more.

Registration cost $40 (deadline August 26 )
Food served will be locally and sustainably grown, antibiotic and hormone-free
