| Sarah Gerdes goes door-to-door for wild
forests. |
Despite the gloomy weather, 28 people went door-to-door in the
neighborhood, collecting postcards to Governor Pawlenty, asking
him to protect our last wild forests in northern Minnesota from
logging and clear cutting. Others took stacks of postcard to canvass
their own neighborhood or friends and family.
We were fortunate to be visited by a 9-foot tall, repentant Paul
Bunyan, who made an appearance to help with the door-to-door training
in the morning.
The afternoon picnic was very pleasant with volunteers sticking
around to meet others, talk with organizers, and all were positive
about the event and their accomplishments. We had an unusually high
contact rate with over 1,200 doors knocked on, 420 conversations,
and more than 300 postcards signed.
