Raid on Who-ville

Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, still smarting after his pet pork projects -- the infamous "bridges to nowhere" -- were publicly exposed as gross boondoggles, now appears bent on opening the Arctic Wildlife Refuge to drilling by any means necessary. To hear the Senator tell it, he's willing to hold not only the defense spending bill hostage to his scheme, but also Katrina relief funds and even the holidays themselves. Says the Senator: "This is the end game, O.K., and I have been involved in end games for a lot of years. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not leaving. I have canceled my trip home. I will be here through Christmas if necessary."

You'll find more of the Senator's holiday wishes here.
