Looking back, it really does seem that carbon dioxide came into its own this year as a global villain. I'm almost surprised the new Bond film doesn't feature a CO2 threat from a mad scientist (or does it?). The latest confirmation comes in the form of the New Oxford American Dictionary's selection for its word of the year:
carbon neutral"The rise of carbon neutral reflects the growing importance of the green movement in the United States. In a CBS News/New York Times Poll in May 2006, 66% of respondents agreed that global warming is a problem that’s causing a serious impact now. ... It's more than a trend, it's a movement."

Interesting to see that a runner-up was CSA, for community-supported agriculture.
