In keeping with Pope Benedict's sermonizing on themes of environmental justice and 'creation care,' the Vatican has announced plans to go solar. The first project in the Holy See involves replacing deteriorated cement panels on the roof of the Paul VI auditorium with photovoltaic cells that will illuminate, heat and cool the structure. When not in use, the electricity will be used to power other Vatican buildings. Well, hosanna to that.

I've always believed "religious people" should be leaders in the green effort... why would we want to see God's creation destroyed. it amazes me to see some of these TV Preachers going on about how God will take care of global warming. My belief is God gave us freewill and if we use that to choose not to care for the planet we have done a great disservice... Kudos to the Vatican, let's hope other religious establishments follow..
Amen. Now if they'll just change their stance on birth control and stop shielding pedophile priests ...
...on Earth as it is in Heaven...
