Northern Exposure
Quotes from scientists aboard the US Coast Guard icebreaker Healy, which is engaged in mapping the Arctic seafloor: - "We have had a remarkable amount of open water -- good for mapping, sad for the Arctic."
- "A little bit of global warming and a little bit of adventurism and now we are really starting to explore the Arctic."

Re: Mexican Big Rigs
It is important that the Sierra Club continue to fight the decision
by Bush and the San Francisco judge
to allow Mexican trucks to drive
freely anywhere in the United States.
The Sierra Club board and the directors from other groups and
unions need to band together to
convince the public that this is
a very bad decision.
The following concerns should be
paramount:
Drug cartels in a New York minute
will bribe drivers and truck owners
to traffic drugs.
The trucks probably do not have
sufficient insurance to cover them
so the US public will carry the
financial responsibility.
The drivers will not be skilled
to drive in the traffic of US
interstates.
The trucks might not have regular
maintance.
The drivers might want to "cowboy"
it to get greater success in
delivery time.
There are two known customs that
could be practiced among Mexican
truck drivers: the use of marijuana
and the practice of bribing cops.
We need to stop elected officials in Washington DC from selling out
this country on the business front,
on the environmental front, and the
personal safety front. The elected
officials are suppose to follow the
founders words. "Promote peace and
prosperity"
