Australia's new prime minister, Kevin Rudd, made a big splash at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bali by signing on to the Kyoto Protocol. The November election in which Rudd trounced former PM John Howard is widely seen as the first major election where global warming was the determining issue.

Been doing many Green things for along time, I was considered obsessive, until now. How about a "suds-saver" wash machine. Uses much less water, the dark jeans or rugs, etc. sure can be washed in most of the water that was used for the whites or brighter colors. I save rinse water too, use for the next load. dry most wash on the line when the weather is nice; grow most of my vegs, cook at home, and can or freeze so I'm not driving to the store for a supper.
