Ask Our Local Officials to Step It Up and Cut Carbon by 2% per Year
A recent Washington Post study found that the DC area's global warming pollution rose 13.4% over four years. That's right, 13.4% more carbon dioxide. If we're going to get a handle on global warming, our communities need to commit to be cutting carbon emissions 80% by 20502% per year. How can they do it?
- Make municipal buildings green.
- Create compact, mixed use, walkable neighborhoods.
- Expand transit, not highways.
- Buy green power in bulk.
- Green the fleetswitch municipal vehicles to hybrids.
