On July 3, 2004, the LeConte Memorial Lodge in Yosemite Valley celebrated its Centennial. Special activities were planned for the weekend. On Friday, July 2, 2004, a special evening program was presented by famous Yosemite personages, Galen Clark (Tom Arfsten), John Muir (Frank Helling), and Dr. Joseph LeConte (Steve Pauly). Special guest John LeConte, Joseph LeConte's great-grandson, was present for the activities. On Saturday, July 3, visitors enjoyed seeing the Recreation of the 1907 Wildflower Display, and the Centennial Wilderness Quilt Project. Visitors were able to sign the special pottery Time Capsule, watch and learn American Indian Traditional Arts, paint wooden Wilderness Blocks, write Words for Wilderness, enjoy musical entertainment and sing-alongs, attend the Rededication Ceremony, and enjoy lemonade and LeConte-shaped ginberbread cookies. Here are some photos of highlights of the day!
