As a distant relative (my mothers maiden name is Muir), I have become very interested in John Muir's travels. It boggles the mind how one man could have visited so many places, written so many words and affected so many generations. When one considers the ecological effect he has had in the U.S. alone over the past 140 plus years, you can't help feeling proud and just a little bit awed.

My words are much the same as John Muir's because he is my Great, Great, Great Grandfather. I found this out years ago and never forgot. That man's passions are my passions.
