Revoking Florida’s Free Pass to Pollute: Taking Away Water Permitting Rights

Case Updates:

April 1, 2004

Sierra Club recently filed a huge lawsuit asking the Environmental Protection Agency to take over water pollution control duties from the state of Florida. The action comes in response to the federal Bush administration’s blind eye to the Jeb administration’s giveaway to corporate polluters. Florida has suffered in the hands of corporate polluters such as factory farms, paper mills, and mining operations who dump tons of pollutants into streams and rivers every day with little or no state intervention. The suit seeks to enforce the Clean Water Act and revoke the ability of both the Jeb and George W. Bush administrations to give a free pass to polluters.
