New Case Filed to Protect Sensitive Wildlife in Our Nation’s Forests
Case Updates:
March 3, 2005
Our national forests provide vital habitat for a host of wildlife and birds, a central part of our natural heritage. In February Sierra Club joined with a coalition of conservation groups to fight an administration action that strips away protections for wildlife and birds in our forests. The challenged current administration rules would threaten the nation's 192 million acres of forests and grasslands by stripping away decades-old requirements to monitor and protect sensitive wildlife. Not only were the new rules crafted behind closed doors, they were also drafted without any scientific evidence to support the new, industry-friendly approach.
