Beyond the Borders - Mexico Project:
The Beyond the Borders Mexico Project supports citizen groups in
Mexico that are fighting air and water pollution and workplace toxins from the
unregulated expansion of the maquiladora industry along the U.S.-Mexico border.
It is the Sierra Club’s first truly binational program, containing
parallel grant-making programs to both Mexican community organizations and Club
groups with collaborative projects along the border.

Protect Arkansas’ National Forests:
Arkansas residents and our visitors enjoy our national forests for
many activities – hiking, camping, canoeing, hunting and fishing are just
a few of these. The Ozark-St. Francis and Ouachita National Forests are
currently undergoing their first long-term planning process in nearly 20 years
and this is our chance to be heard! Speak out for good forest management by
encouraging the Forest Supervisor and your congressional delegation to support
our Citizen’s Forest Plan. |

Stop the Drilling!: Padre Island
National Seashore, along with Big Thicket National Preserve, is threatened with
ongoing oil and gas drilling. The U.S. holds only 3% of the world’s
petroleum reserves, yet consumes 25% of the world’s petroleum. We will
never be able to drill our way to energy independence. We need to stop the
drilling on America’s national parks. Find out how to make a change.Learn

Clean Energy Campaign: The Bush
administration has worked for four years to radically alter our nation's energy
policy, moving to increase our dependence on fossil fuels and to turn back the
clock on environmental protections. The Sierra Club is committed to educating
both the public and our elected officials about the need to lessen our
dependence on polluting petroleum products, increase our commitment to clean,
renewable sources of energy, and protect our natural areas from the dangers of
drilling. Working together, the public can convince our elected officials to
shape American energy policy in a way that protects and preserves our
environment. |

Fair Courts Campaign: The Sierra Club
is committed to ensuring that our federal courts are places of impartiality,
independence, and integrity. The Fair Courts Campaign is about educating the
public and our elected officials about the Bush administration's judicial
nominees, and about working to block the confirmation of agenda-driven nominees
who have a demonstrated history of anti-environmentalism. Working with the
public and a collection of progressive organizations, we can work to keep our
justice system thoughtful, evenhanded, and fair. |

Keep Oklahoma's Water OK!: Oklahoma
Sierra Club’s Building Environmental Communities Campaign is working to
protect Oklahoma’s quality and quantity of water. The overall focus our
campaign remains to be supporting a statewide water plan. SC will continue to
focus on Aquifers, including the Arbuckle Simpson. Coalition Partners such as
the Citizens for Protection of the Arbuckle Simpson Aquifer refuse to allow
PESA to devastate the environment of south central Oklahoma. Legislation in the
Oklahoma House and Senate placed a moratorium on temporary permits to
pump water from the Arbuckle Simpson aquifer until a study is completed to
determine the effect of such pumping on the quality of water in the aquifer and
the flows of streams and springs. |
