Great Lakes Program

The Great Lakes hold one fifth of the world's fresh surface water supply and currently provide drinking water to over 42 million people. The health of these lakes is critical.

Stop Asian Carp From Invading Great Lakes

Unfortunately, the Great Lakes region is currently home to over 180 aquatic invasive species. What's even more unfortunate is that an Asian Carp has just been discovered six miles from Lake Michigan, having breached the electronic barriers that were intended to be the last line of defense. If these invasive fish establish a population in the Great Lakes, they risk destroying our way of life--threatening fishing, boating, native species, our region's economy, and our ability to use and enjoy the lakes.

Despite the threat, the Army Corps of Engineers and other agencies have been dragging their feet on a solution. Please take action today and urge President Obama to take immediate action to create a "Federal Incident Commander" and to permanently separate the Great Lakes and Mississippi River ecosystems.
