Grizzly Bear Ecosystems Project
slideshow

When Lewis & Clark explored the West over 200 years ago, there were as many as 100,000 grizzly bears in the western United States. Sadly, in less than 3 human generations, the great bear has gone from an animal that freely roamed from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean, to an animal confined in five island ecosystems, surrounded by a rising tide of human development.
