Feature: Groups Demand Action on Gender-Bending Chemicals

On June 5, 2007, Sierra Club and other environmental, public health, labor and commercial fishing groups formally petitioned the Environmental Protection Agency to take action to protect the environment and public health from a toxic chemical used in detergents and commercial cleaners. This chemical has been shown to disrupt the development and reproductive systems of fish, causing male fish to produce female egg proteins, for example.
