Every year, community groups across the United States and Canada express a need for more and more outings. To meet the needs of underprivileged youth these agencies represent, it is critical that:
- new volunteer leaders are recruited and trained and
- worn equipment is replaced.
You or your company can donate items or resources to your local area ICO group. You can become an ICO volunteer leader. Every ICO group needs new volunteers. All skill levels in a wide variety of functions are needed and appreciated whether you would like to lead or assist on trips, help maintain equipment, raise funds, or organize administrative paperwork. Leader training is available.
As an ICO volunteer, you and the kids will day hike to local wilderness areas, bike, backpack, camp, canoe, kayak, cross country ski, and raft. In beautiful open spaces, you will teach kids to safely enjoy the outdoor world beyond city streets. To find the group closest to you, please refer to the ICO Local Contact List.
