Outings led by the River Prairie Group outings leaders are open to the general public. Most outings require prior reservations with the designated outings leaders or contacts. Many outings fill well in advance of the trips. Therefore, early reservations are generally recommended unless otherwise specified in the outing announcement. Some leaders do not accept reservations prior to specified dates. 

Outing costs are charged for most outings to cover general outing costs, such as group food, telephone and postage expenses, and area usage fees. Outings are run on an at-cost basis except service outings where a donation is suggested and workshops and fund-raisers where an additional donation is requested.

Note that, due to insurance constraints, the Sierra Club leaders can not arrange carpools. All outings begin and end at the trailhead.

Club Outings are planned and led by certified Sierra Club leaders and are approved by the Outings Committee. Some non-Club activities may be listed on our Activity Calendar but with a warning that the Club does not run or control those.

To participate on a Club outing, you must sign a Liability Waiver required by Club regulations.
