Tree Canopy

Tree canopy
This is the upper canopy of an evergreen forest in the Palni Hills of Tamil Nadu. The high branches of the upper canopy host unique animals and birds normally invisible to viewers on the forest floor. The Malabar giant squirrel (Ratufa indica) seeks refuge here, and hornbills and bulbuls feed on figs and other fruit produced by the towering trees.
