Mineral King Group

Mineral King Cabins - Photo by Harold WoodThe Sierra Club Mineral King Group is located in Tulare County and Kings County, in California's fertile San Joaquin Valley, near Sequoia National Park and the Giant Sequoia National Monument. The Group, headquartered in Visalia, is named after the famous high Sierra mountain valley, Mineral King, that was the focus of the Sierra Club's successful campaign in the 1960's to stop a huge ski resort from from destroying that beautiful mountain valley, now part of Sequoia National Park.

The Mineral King Group has members in Hanford, Lemoore, Visalia, Porterville, and other cities in Kings and Tulare counties. We promote a variety of conservation and outdoor activities, and working on city, county, and regional conservation issues. We are particularly concerned about air and water quality in our valley. We also enjoy and work to protect the nearby Sequoia National Park and Sequoia National Forest.
