Senator Bond's amendment to eliminate the Highway Stormwater Discharge Mitigation Program included in the transportation bill would deny funding for runoff and pollution prevention funding for roads.  Senator Bond's attempt came because Senator Warner (R-VA) and Senator Chafee (R-RI) among others had successfully inserted the important cleanup and prevention measure into the Surface Transportation Program.

The amendment was rejected by a vote on April 29, 2005.
