Captain Lewis returned, having traversed Haley Bay to Cape Disappointment, and the seacoast to the north for some distance. Several Chinook Indians followed Captain Lewis, and a canoe came up with roots, mats, &c., to sell. (Cape Disappointment at the entrance of the Columbia River into the Great South Sea, or Pacific Ocean.)
