Sierra Club Event Listing
This link allows you to view Sierra Club group and chapter activities around the country by selecting an address, city and state or zip code and the perimeter in miles to localize your selection. Not all groups and chapters use this system. Once you have made your selection you can hover your mouse over one of the listings or calendar days and see more detail. Click on it and get all the information available. The Map view will give you a one line description (outings are green, a legend below the map shows other choices by color. Click to receive the event details. Be patient as the wider the selection area is, the slower the system. For the Conejo Group and some Angeles Chapter and groups use a zip code and 10-15 mile perimeter. Our Chapter and the other groups do not use this system, you must go to their web sites for textual listings.
 
The hikes listed in this web site should be checked by calling the leader.  Hikes listed are listed with a two letter Group in parentheses:  Conejo (CJ), Ventura (VEN), Santa Barbara (SB), Arguello (AR) and the three letter exception - West LA (WLA) (Angeles Chapter). 
 
The site is useful for finding Trail Maintenance and hiking locations. Created by a collaboration with the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council. Each area you link to displays the selected trail on a Google Maps overhead or satellite view.
 
The web site lists all State Parks, allows online reservations, lists park programs and contains an events calendar.  Many events are depicted graphically.
 
This site lists interesting information about what to do (see their events for the quarter in OUTDOORS online) as well what is the latest information about trail closures (duplicated here).
 
This is a textual listing of weather for the Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County areas.  Use the Local forecast feature to search for your city by Zip Code or City, State.
 
Check this site for any information about traffic, road closures, freeway maps with traffic speeds, incidents, etc.  A valuable resource to bookmark.
 
This site will allow you to access traffic and other road information in a Google Earth map format with street view. You will require some experimentation if you want to get the most from this very useful site.
