Fracking Ban

Prince George's County bans hydraulic fracturing ("fracking")!

On April 12, 2016, the Prince George's County Council voted unanimously to approve CB-3-2016, which bans fracking in Prince George’s County.  The Taylorsville natural gas basin runs under the southeastern third of the county, not far from the planned Cove Point liquefied natural gas export facility and several existing or planned gas-fired power plants.  There’s a statewide moratorium on fracking until mid-2017, but no guarantee that it will be extended. This bill ensures that Prince George's County will be protected no matter what the outcome at the state level    Link to the bill
