Notable Successes of 2014

Wildlands: "GENERAL ASSEMBLY PASSES BILL TO PERMANENTLY PRESERVE 22,000 ACRES OF MARYLAND WILD AREAS; Governor O’Malley will sign legislation expanding the State’s Wildlands system by 50 percent" according to the DNR press release dated 4/1/14. Notable Successes of 2013

Offshore Wind: Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Act of 2013, passed by the Maryland General Assembly in April 2013. (Read the Sierra Club article~; see our campaign webpage).

Sideling Hill: Protests against the proposal to allow offroad vehicles on Sideling Hill result in withdrawal of the proposal, October 2013. (See Protect Sideling Hill for more about the campaign.)

Mattawoman Creek: Charles County officials backed down from requesting permits to construct a highway called the "Cross County Connector extension" that would plow across the full width of the sensitive Mattawoman Creek watershed.  (See the ongoing campaign to protect the Mattawoman Creek.)
