2007 REVIEW

Your steadfast support this past year proved invaluable in helping the Sierra Club stand strong against some of the most egregious assaults on our environment in more than a century.

Because of you, the Sierra Club and the conservation community achieved these victories in 2007:

• We recently thwarted some of the Administration’s worst plans to dismantle our National Forests, including the attempted sale of over 300,000 acres of National Forest.

• We won a key vote in the House to end the subsidies for new timber roads in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest, our largest domestic temperate rainforest.

• More than 740 major cities have pledged to significantly reduce their global warming emissions through our “Cool Cities” campaign.

• A landmark Supreme Court case ruled that the EPA must regulate carbon emissions from the burning of fossil fuels as a pollutant.

But despite these victories, the Bush Administration and extremists in Congress continue to push policies and legislation that fly in the face of America's core environmental values. And the Sierra Club urgently needs your moral and financial support to help us keep the conservation momentum going in 2008.

Please donate today and help us protect our nation's imperiled forests, wildlands and wildlife, keep our air and water clean and solve global warming.
