Military Families and Veterans Initiative
Armed Services YMCA
ASYMCA runs more than 150 programs around the world to ease the burden of the families of junior-enlisted military personnel. Some are carried out at single ASYMCA branch locations. Others operate at multiple branch locations and are customized to meet the specific needs of that community, ranging from recreation and fitness to educational and financial support. Read more.
Veteran Expeditions at Outward Bound
Adventure and challenge, solitude and reflection, the Wilderness has always symbolized a new beginning- a place for discovery and fulfilling adventure. The Outward Bound program for Veterans provides an opportunity for camaraderie, and has proven to be a powerful tool in helping Vets re-adjust back to civilian life.
NMFA's Operation Purple
Operation Purple® camps offer a free week of summer fun for military kids with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. This year, 100 weeks of camps will be held at 62 locations in 37 states and territories. Campers from all service branches will gather together to experience a memorable week of fun and adventure with a focus on learning coping skills to better deal with a parent's deployment.
