Creve Coeur Park

An informal coalition of local conservation-minded organizations is leading a feasibility study of sustainable development and conservation options for a large tract of land in Maryland Heights, known as Howard Bend.  This area, to the west of Creve Coeur Park, is under heavy development pressure, including a large residential project.

The study, led by Maryland Heights Residents for Responsible Growth, hopes to identify specific methods to promote sustainable development and conservation in the area.  The project is timely because the city of Maryland Heights is currently re-evaluating its Comprehensive Plan, which is a guiding document for development.  This project will also develop a framework for possible future work on a green infrastructure and ecosystem evaluation.

The project is 60-percent funded, but the coalition is seeking $2,000 to complete the study, from individuals or organizations.  Organizers are inviting everyone interested to hear the study findings in late May, time and place to be determined.  In the meantime, donate or keep up with the project at www.marylandheightsresidents.com or find us on Facebook.
